Macrophage polarisation in atherosclerosis
Studying how macrophages, immune cells involved in artery plaque, change state, by measuring which genes they switch on.
P-042024–2025
- Project
- Gene expression in immune cells that drive plaque formation
- Context
- MSc project, University of Sheffield
qPCRgene expression
RNAextraction from cultured cells
The question
How does inflammatory signalling in macrophages change under conditions relevant to atherosclerosis?
What I did
- Cultured and treated macrophages.
- Extracted RNA and measured gene expression by qPCR.
- Analysed expression and pathway data to investigate changes in inflammatory signalling, and wrote up the results.
- Kept accurate experimental and inventory records so every sample was traceable.
