The question
Can an electrochemical sensor detect COVID-19 with good sensitivity and reproducibility?
What I did
- Contributed to developing and analytically validating the sensor, using cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy to assess performance, sensitivity and reproducibility.
- Maintained cell-based systems under aseptic conditions and ran assays including ELISA; characterised materials with FTIR.
- Troubleshot failing methods systematically, found root causes and adjusted protocols to make assays more reliable.
- Prepared and verified analytical standards, ran QC checks, and reviewed data for trends before reporting; tracked samples and results in a LIMS.
- Supported wider lab work: autoclaving and sterilisation, metal-organic framework (MOF) synthesis, and sample preparation for other studies.
What I found
Co-authored a manuscript on the biosensor, submitted to an Elsevier journal and currently under review.
